As an anthropologist, Daniel Miller studies human relationships toward objects and digital anthropology. Which I think it is why the essay and our Unit 1 activity has close connection in topics. This article, "Interior Decoration- Offline and Online", consists of two main subjects. What Miller claims, assisted by several evidence of his own observation, is that curating online personal website is equivalent as decorating one's home interior. Followed by that, he says that design can represent a person and connect each people into understanding, whether it is online or offline.

According to Miller, to curate is to feel responsibility and take care of the objects that you posses. To be a curator, one should display those objects to public and have a theme within. Objects are selected while depending on some criteria, one of them being to feel the object as your own possession. Not valued by money, but by personal experience and memory or intercourse between other people. Meanwhile Miller also indicates that everyone can be a curator, enumerating several individuals as example. Every people, since they all have different life experiences, decorates their home distinctly. Those being a foundation form of interior design, it also relates to Miller's definition of curation. Ultimately, from what I understood, Miller is trying to deliver that curation and interior design has many aspects in common at least and they can be closely related or have interactions.

Miller's perspective of melding each of those subjects(curation, interior design, online SNS and offline home decoration) by relating them to an activity that all human being does, was very interesting to me. It made me feel closer to interior design and curation now that I've been input with a conception of my everyday life of doing SNS or arranging my room or even one of my belonging might associate with interior design. This article not only inspired me of our Unit 1 Task about five personal objects, but changed my point of view towards living my daily life, interaction with other people and the environment surrounding myself. That every person holds their own personal experience and the story itself can be forwarded to my design activities.
